Dielectric Properties of Plasma-Sprayed Fully Natural Garnets

Various kinds of natural garnets belonging to the almandine type (3FeO·Al2O3·3SiO2) were sprayed by plasma spray technique build coatings on metallic substrates. The experimental garnet powders came from different mines in Czech Republic and Mongolia. After coating cooling substrates removed. In this way, self-supporting plates obtained further studied with microscopy, X-ray diffraction, dielectric spectroscopy. Mechanical properties our focus as well. Microhardness was measured cross sections dedicated microstructure observation. Wear resistance wet conditions tested a slurry. Reflectance applying visible infrared (VIS-NIR) radiation. Dielectric at low voltage capacitance, loss tangent also under direct current (DC) resistance. results show that minerals are interesting candidates for various optical electronic applications; they have similar behavior as, example, aluminum oxide or high-purity synthetic oxides, and, simultaneously, extraordinarily reflectance VIS-NIR differences between resulting discussed connection their chemical phase compositions.
